Youth killed by girlfriend's family
Dehradun: In a suspected case of honour killing, the father and brother of a girl killed her boyfriend at Doiwala area of the district, police today said.
The incident took place late last night when Manish Thapa (22) was talking to Meenakshi Rawat (20) at his terrace and they were attacked by the girl's father and brother with a sharp-edged weapon.
While Meenakshi managed to run away from the spot, Manish was allegedly killed by them. Later, they took his body and threw it at the nearby railway track so that the murder should look like a case of suicide, police said.
Meanwhile, Meenakshi reached the house of Manish and informed his family about the incident who in turn lodged the report with the police. Later, police recovered his mutilated body from the track.
Meenakshi's father Prithvi Singh Rawat and her brother Tejpal Singh Rawat were arrested today.
