CHILD TRAFFICKING AND CHILD ABUSE HAS TO COME TO AN END.

Trafficking in children is a global problem affecting large numbers of children. Some estimates have as many as 1.2 million children being trafficked every year. There is a demand for trafficked children as cheap labour or for sexual exploitation. Children and their families are often unaware of the dangers of trafficking, believing that better employment and lives lie in other countries.

Man booked for raping daughter-in-law

Panipat: Almost a month after the complaint was made, a man was finally booked for repeatedly raping his 25-year-old daughter-in-law in this Haryana town, police said on Wednesday.
The case was registered following the intervention of NGO All India Dalit Mahila Adhikar Manch (AIDMAM). In the complaint, the victim had alleged that her father-in-law Rajvir Singh had repeatedly raped her while her husband was away on a government job in Himachal Pradesh.
"We have registered a case against Rajvir Singh. We have also raided the village but the accused is absconding. However, our efforts are on to arrest him," said Deepak Kumar, investigation officer of the case.
Meanwhile, AIDMAM accused the police of working under the influence of the accused.
"The man's family is pressurising the victim for a panchayat settlement. First complaint was filed on September 21 and second on October 10. They (police) are not cooperating with us and are helping the accused," said Savita, state coordinator of AIDMAM.
"Rajvir was attending a panchayat to save himself on Monday. We informed the police about this but they did not show any interest in arresting him," she added.
The victim alleged that Rajvir raped her several times in August this year. She had to run away from the house on August 13 to save herself from further exploitation.
