SIALKOT, March 6(APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Sunday that the female education was imperative for the development of country and bringing it at par with developed nations.Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Fatima Jinnah Girls Higher Secondary School here, she underlined the need to impart education for steering the country out of social and economic crises.Emphasizing on the female education, she said, “Women can play a vital role in the development process while following the golden principles of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah which will ultimately put the country on the road to success”.
The Information Minister urged the private sector to play an active role by establishing more educational institutions.
Highlighted the importance of female education, she said that the majority of population needed to be educated for accelerating the developmental process in the society.
She called upon the women to play their effective role for the progress and development of the country.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that different universities have campuses in major cities of the Punjab but it is sad to note that despite being the main industrial city, there is no university campus in Sialkot.
She was of the view that the word ‘revolution’ is used only for getting space in media headlines, whereas the revolution is associated with thinking and without adopting a revolutionary approach it is impossible to materialize the idea.
She emphasized that imparting female education is the need of the hour which is essential to get rid of social problems.
“Women empowerment is essential to bring the country out of financial crisis and put it on the path of development,” she added.
The Information Minister said that the extremism is disturbing the peace and country’s image is being tarnished in the comity of nations.
Emphasizing the collective efforts to get rid of terrorism, the Minister said, Islam is the religion of peace, tolerance and brotherhood but unfortunately due to activities of some elements Pakistan is known as a ‘terrorist country’. There is also misunderstanding about this religion due to this factor, she added.
She expressed pleasure over the inauguration of girls higher secondary school in the area and hoped that the pace of imparting female education would be further accelerated the area.
