Taliban houses become schools

Taliban houses become schools

Locals welcome Pakistani authorities' move in Mingora after flood havoc, but facilities remain basic.

In its offensive against the Taliban, the Pakistani military used to destroy the fighters' homes. But now houses are instead being turned into schools.

In Mingora, a town in the Swat valley where many houses were destroyed by the recent floods, the move has been welcomed, especially for girls who were banned from education during the Taliban era.

But as Al Jazeera's Sohail Rahman reports, facilities are very basic.
