CHILD TRAFFICKING AND CHILD ABUSE HAS TO COME TO AN END.

Trafficking in children is a global problem affecting large numbers of children. Some estimates have as many as 1.2 million children being trafficked every year. There is a demand for trafficked children as cheap labour or for sexual exploitation. Children and their families are often unaware of the dangers of trafficking, believing that better employment and lives lie in other countries.

Minor abused on Caranzalem beach

Minor abused on Caranzalem beach

PANAJI:The mother of a nine year-old complained to police on Tuesday that her daughter was sexually abused by an unknown person at 4.30pm on October 16 on Caranzalem beach.

According to the complaint, the minor had gone to the beach with some family members. While playing, she drifted away from the group. It was then that the person caught hold of her and sexually abused her. The accused also assaulted the girl when she tried to resist.

Police registered a case of molestation under the IPC and child abuse under the Goa Children's Act 2003 and sent the girl for medical examination to GMC, said PSI RKalangutkar.

It may be recalled that a Russian minor was allegedly assaulted in a similar fashion at Arambol beach last year.
