CHILD TRAFFICKING AND CHILD ABUSE HAS TO COME TO AN END.

Trafficking in children is a global problem affecting large numbers of children. Some estimates have as many as 1.2 million children being trafficked every year. There is a demand for trafficked children as cheap labour or for sexual exploitation. Children and their families are often unaware of the dangers of trafficking, believing that better employment and lives lie in other countries.

Man held for trying to rape 5-yr-old daughter

A man was arrested along with a friend on Saturday for allegedly attempting to rape his five-year-old daughter in a slum area on the outskirt of the steel city, police said. Bijay Champua and his friend Kishore Dhanuar, both aged around 30 years, allegedly tried to rape the former's minor daughter in his house at Prem Nagar locality in an inebriated state late on Friday night, they said. As the girl raised an alarm, the neighbours broke open the door of Champua's house and rescued her. The two were handed over to the police this morning. After the death of Champua's wife, he and his daughter were staying in the house. The girl has been sent for medical
examination and investigation is in progress.
