3 men jailed over filmed rape of ‘unconscious’ woman in Oxford
Three men from Oxford have been jailed for raping an unconscious woman, which was discovered by the victim only when one of the perpetrators showed her the footage that he recorded on his mobile phone.
The court heard that Mohammed Shahjahan, 27, Nicholas Jones, 26, and Feizal Ali, 26, from Oxford raped and sexually assaulted the woman in November, about which she came to know only when Jones showed her the recording two weeks later.
According to the BBC, Mohammed Shahjahan has been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years for rape at Oxford Crown Court and three years for Feizal Ali for sexual assault. Both had denied the charges against them.
Nicholas Jones, who made the film, will serve three-and-a-half years after admitting sexual assault and voyeurism.
Prosecutors said the woman had passed out at a flat in east Oxford after drinking three vodka and Red Bull cocktails and did not remember the assault. The court was told the woman had been "incapable of consent".
After delivering the verdict, Judge Julian Hall said: "This was a disgraceful incident which would not have come to light but for the fact that Nicholas Jones filmed it, kept it and later showed it to the victim."
