CHILD TRAFFICKING AND CHILD ABUSE HAS TO COME TO AN END.

Trafficking in children is a global problem affecting large numbers of children. Some estimates have as many as 1.2 million children being trafficked every year. There is a demand for trafficked children as cheap labour or for sexual exploitation. Children and their families are often unaware of the dangers of trafficking, believing that better employment and lives lie in other countries.

 Delta flight experiences extreme turbulence,

NEEDHAM -- A Delta plane on its way to Boston from Raleigh, North Carolina experienced some heavy turbulence.

One passenger, Blair Merriman, said it was the scariest flight of her life as some oxygen masks fell and people were screaming.

“All of a sudden there was this bump and we just dropped,” said Merriman.

Merriman said even with her seatbelt on, she slammed her head into the overhead bin hard enough to put a crack in it.

“It hurt. I had an egg on my head. I had a headache for a few days. I did speak with my doctor and he said that I had a mild concussion,” said Merriman.

Members of the Boston University field hockey team were also on the plane.

“I was in the aisle, but luckily my coach was back there and she was holding onto me, but I was flying everywhere,” said Kate Murphy, a passenger.

“I was holding the girl’s hand next to me and actually covering my mouth so that I wouldn’t scream. I definitely got tears in my eyes. I got a little scared,” said Leslie Zules, another passenger.

Passengers said drinks and people went flying.

One passenger, Ysabel Schieb, thought they were going to crash.

“At the beginning it was like, okay, it’s just turbulence, it’s just turbulence, just trying to calm myself down. When the plane started really dropping at the end it didn’t feel very stable and that’s when it was like, oh my gosh, this might be it,” said Schieb.

When the plane landed safely at Logan Airport some passengers were overcome with emotion as their feet touched solid ground.

“A few girls jumped out of the plane and kissed the ground when we got off,” said Jacinda McLeod, another passenger.

An airline spokesperson, Christine Weaver, released a statement. The following is an excerpt:

“The flight did experience some turbulence, but none of the passengers required medical attention. That’s basically the extent of it.”

Merriman said after the flight she just wanted to go home, and she decided to see her doctor the following day.
